Sokko

Sokko was built for MTN Innovation Lab, by a team of three developers including myself. The project starts from a very concrete problem: a merchant selling online already has to manage their catalog, marketing, and payments, and on top of that, find a delivery driver and make sure the package actually arrives. Sokko removes that entire layer from the merchant's day-to-day. On the seller side, the concept is simple: register a store once, add products, and get a Sokko card, an electronic card with a QR code linking directly to the store. It can be shared as is, or a single product can be shared directly on social media. Buyers scan, purchase, and everything after that is out of the merchant's hands. That's where Sokko becomes a full logistics system in its own right. As soon as a purchase starts, a delivery driver is assigned in real time, either automatically through a dispatch algorithm that finds the most relevant driver based on location, or manually if the delivery fleet prefers to stay in control. The driver confirms, the merchant is notified that a driver is on the way to collect the package, and buyers can even set specific packaging requirements that the driver has to check and confirm with a photo before heading out. Every step, assignment, pickup, delivery, payment, triggers a real-time notification to the right people. Payment follows the same flexible logic: mobile money or cash. With cash, the driver collects payment and later remits the merchant's and the platform's share, keeping full traceability despite the physical transaction. Sokko manages several user types, each with their own space and history: the customer, the merchant, individual delivery drivers, and delivery fleets, companies managing multiple drivers under one account, with their own dispatch settings. Merchants, meanwhile, get access to sales data that gives them real accounting visibility, without ever touching the logistics side. The interface was a particular focus: a simple but polished color system, flows designed to reduce every action to the essentials. Technically, Sokko runs on React on the frontend, NestJS on the backend, PostgreSQL for the database, with a modular architecture built to scale, mobile money integration, OAuth, email handling, and Cloudflare for image storage.
